How We Work
Host congregations commit to sharing the responsibility of housing 3-5 families every night (5 PM to 7 AM) for seven nights, every 10-12 weeks.
Breakfast and dinner are provided for the families by volunteers of the host congregation.
Sack lunches are prepared by the families for their noon meal with the items provided by the host congregation.
Tutoring, activities or companionship is offered to the guests by volunteers who arrive after dinner.
Overnight hosts from the host congregation (one male and one female) stay with the guests until breakfast volunteers arrive.
Transportation to and from the Day Facility is provided by volunteers of the host congregation.
During the day, the families remain at the Day Facility where the Network Director assists them in finding housing, jobs or job training.
How Families are Selected
The director interviews and screens each applicant family.
Background checks and drug tests are given.
Applicants must show a desire to change their circumstances by looking for work, obtaining job training, and searching for affordable housing.
